TAPESTRY
CAROLE KING

By the time of 'Tapestry', Carole King was beginning a new phase in her musical career. Her marriage to writing partner Gerry Goffin was over. After years of penning classics for countless acts, King was once again centre stage as a recording artist. 'Tapestry' served as the perfect launch pad for King's renaissance.
In a male dominated industry, few women wrote and performed their own material. Fewer still ever matched the timeless quality of King's gift. There is no filler on this album, but there are some key songs worthy of recognition: the title track, "It's Too Late", "You've Got A Friend", "I Feel The Earth Move", "Beautiful", "So Far Away", "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman", "Home Again" and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?".
The album consists of new material as well as remakes of songs previously recorded by the likes of Aretha Franklin and The Shirelles. Every track was co/written by King.
'Tapestry' became one of the best selling albums by a female soloist. Today, it still is one of the all-time record holders. King's album played a significant role in ushering in the singer / songwriter era.
