Carly Simon did such a great job when writing "You're So Vain" that it is still the subject of speculation to this day. She has kept us guessing who the subject of the song is since its release in 1972. The verses have been scoured for clues.

The single reached #1 in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It was included on her 'No Secrets' album.

 Simon has since revealed that the song refers to 3 different men. Only one- actor Warren Beatty- has been identified by the singer / songwriter. Other suspects include Mick Jagger, Kris Kristofferson and James Taylor.
