ALCAZAR

Alcazar was formed by producers Alexander Bard and Anders Hansson and lead singer Andreas Lundstedt. The Swedish dance trio was complete after the addition of female singers Annikafiore Kjærgaard and Tess Merkel . 

Debut single "Crying At The Discotheque" was unleashed in 2001 which sampled "Spacer", a funk/ disco track by Shiela B. Devotion. This disc, lifted off debut album 'Casino', broke Alcazar around the world and reached #1 in Brazil.

Subsequent singles included "Sexual Guarantee", "Not A Sinner Nor A Saint", "This Is The World We Live In", "Alcastar" and "Stay The Night". 

Magnus Carlsson joined Alcazar in 2002. The openly gay performer quit to pursue a solo career a few years later. In 2007, he bravely announced that he is HIV+.

Alcazar have competed in the Swedish selections to represent its homeland at Eurovision with songs that have included "Blame It On The Disco" in 2014. The song was a comeback single following the group's split in 2011.

Alcazar songwriter and producer Bard went on to form other Swedish dance acts such as BWO (aka Bodies Without Organs)and Gravitonas. 

Alcazar's most recent chart entry was a remake of the Wham! hit "Young Guns (Go For It). Released in 2015, it was included on the trio's 'Disco Defenders: Greatest Hits' compilation album.
