These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down

Elvis Costello released his 'Get Happy' album in 1980. One of its tracks, "I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down", reached #4 on the British chart. This was a remake.

The original version of the song had been released as a single by the R&B duo Sam and Dave in 1967. It appeared on the flip side of the duo's "Soothe Me". The disc was issued in 1967.
