The Offspring expanded its fan base with the rock track "Gone Away", a single lifted off its 'Ixnay On The Hombre' album. Issued in 1997, the song made the Top 40 in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It also topped Billboard Magazine's Mainstream Rock Chart.
The song deals with a man trying to cope with the loss of his partner. He goes to her grave site and wishes he could trade places with the deceased. The void is too painful.
