In 1981, the group Manhattan Transfer made the charts with the upbeat "Boy From New York City". The single was lifted off the 'Mecca For Moderns' album. It reached the Top 10 in America, Canada and New Zealand.
The original version of the song was recorded by US R&B group The Ad Libs. Released as a single in 1964, it peaked at #8 on the American Pop chart. This version was produced by the famous team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.
