"The Way He Makes Me Feel" was written for the film 'Yentl', a project that was a long-held ambition of its director Barbra Streisand. With a lush score from composer Michel Legrand, the love song includes lyrics from the husband & wife team of Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The film soundtrack was issued in 1983.

Streisand plays a brave woman challenging the norms of her time in order to participate in the world of learning. To do so, Yentl disguises herself as a male. Her plan goes awry when she falls in love with a fellow student. Unexpected feelings begin to stir. The song outlines the changes within her. Anyone caught off guard by feelings for another will relate to the song's lyrics.
