PAPA’S GOT A BRAND NEW BAG
James Brown
The Godfather Of Soul was a monumental influence on funk and disco (and, later- hip hop). "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag", issued in 1965, is a sonic blast of revolutionary beats and musical effects. The single featured Part 1 on the A-side with Part 2 on the flip side. James Brown namechecks a variety of dances in the lyrics such as The Mashed Potato, The Fly and the Jerk.
