When Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers were refused entry into the trendiest discotheque on the planet, they wrote a song about the experience. Initially, the musicians were dissing Studio 54, but "Le Freak" later evolved into a 1978 global smash that immortalized the venue. Chic created its own unique style out of a cocktail of funk, disco, R&B and jazz.
