As countries begin selecting their entries for the Eurovision Song Contest in May, this blog will look back on the stats and the best from each of the 43 participating nations.

ESC2016 - Israel Meet & Greet 20.jpgEurovision widened its horizons beyond the European continent when Israel made its debut in 1973. It has participated in 39 contests and secured 3 wins. The trio includes back to back wins in 1978 and 1979. Dana International remains the most recent Israeli victor; with "Diva" in 1998. In 2016, "Made Of  Stars" competed in the Grand Final. Performer Hovi Star finished 14th out of 26 songs.
 The 2017 song for Israel and its performer will be announced in mid-February.
