2017
As countries begin selecting their entries for the Eurovision Song Contest in May, this blog will look back on the stats and the best from each of the 43 participating nations.

Ira Losco - WoW.jpgChiara1.JPGMalta first competed at Eurovision in 1971. There was an extensive absence in the years 1976- 1990. Malta returned in 1991.After 29 attempts to secure a win, this goal is yet to be achieved. The island country has come close, finishing in the Top 3 in 1992, 1998, 2002 and 2005. Chiara performed 2 of those high achieving entries: "Angel" and "The One That I Love". 
Ira Losco, another runner-up (with "7th Wonder"), returned to the Grand Final in Stockholm last year. She finished in 12th position with "Walk On Water". 
The Maltese song for 2017 and its performer will be announced in mid- February.
