 ESSENTIAL SONGS BY THE
ROLLING STONES
The Rolling Stones show no signs of stopping. The group’s latest album reached #1 around the world. Mick Jagger just became a father again- at the age of 73!
This countdown looks back on highlights from the band’s recorded output, spanning the years 1964 to the present day.

FIGHT
The 2nd track on 'Dirty Work', The Stones' 1986 album release, was written by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ron Wood. The former 2 co-produced "Fight" with Steve Lilywhite. Former member Ian Stewart died shortly after the LP's recording sessions concluded. The album is dedicated to him.

This track was also the 1st cut with saxophonist Bobby Keys. Pianists Leon Russell and Nicky Hopkins also perform on the song.

WINNING UGLY
Amid the disharmony that persisted during the recording of the 'Dirty Work' album, the band managed to create some new songs that added to the already vast Rolling Stones catalogue. "Winning Ugly" was composed by Jagger and Richards.

THE UNDER ASSISTANT WEST COAST
COAST PROMOTION MAN
The strangely titled song "The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man" was a group co-write that was credited to Nanker Phelge. That pseudonym was frequently used on band collaborations. and all members shared writing royalties in these cases. This track was included on the 1965 album 'Out Of Our Heads' and was the flip side on the American release of the single "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction".

LET ME GO
Sounding similar to the title track of the 'Emotional Rescue' album, "Let Me Go" was also housed on that LP. This was less funky and more rock than the former. The album topped the US and UK charts.

TOO TOUGH
On 'Undercover', The Stones incorporated new wave and dub into the group's classic sound. The 1983 album was greeted with mixed feelings. "Too Tough" is more hard rock and remains close to the Rolling Stones' trademark sound.

SAD SAD SAD
The 1989 album 'Steel Wheels' turned out to be Bill Wyman's final studio album as a member of The Rolling Stones. At the same time, the LP marked a reunion between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Relations had improved considerably and this helped create a solid new album release.

JIG-SAW PUZZLE
Brian Jones dominates the track "Jig-Saw Puzzle", embellishing it on the Mellotron. This is one of the lengthiest songs by The Stones, running just over 6 minutes. The track appears on the 1968 album 'Beggars Banquet'. The LP reached the Top 5 on both sides of the Atlantic. Sadly, this was to be the final Stones album recorded during Jones' lifetime. The 27 year old was found dead less than a year after its release.
