BEFORE IT WAS A HIT XXXIV: It's Oh So Quiet. Continues next week.

BEFORE IT WAS A HIT SONG
These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

Bjork's 1995 album 'Post' included a remake of "It's Oh So Quiet". Her take featured an intriguing fusion of big band jazz, swing and electronic elements. The single reached the Top 10 in many countries, including Britain and Australia.
Iceland's biggest musical export's song has origins that can be traced back to Europe. It was adapted from an original 1948 German song. The tune was translated into French and then in English. Actress / singer Betty Hutton recorded the new lyrics to the song re-titled as "It's Oh So Quiet". In 1951, her original English interpretation was the B-side for the single "Murder, He Says".
