BEFORE IT WAS A HIT XXV: Black Magic Woman. Continues tomorrow.
BEFORE IT WAS A HIT SONG
These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.
Black Magic Woman
Santana made a big hit out of "Black Magic Woman" in 1970. The single reached #4 in the U.S. and today, many would assume the band's version was an original. In fact, the first take on the song was by Fleetwood Mac. Founding member Peter Green penned the song for his group. Fleetwood Mac's original version made #37 in the U.K. 2 years prior to Santana's remake.
Each new song will be added to the spotify playlist named: ‘Before It Was A Hit Song’.  You can check out the earlier / original versions of the hit songs you know and love.
