DANCING QUEEN
Abba [1976]
Swedish hit-makers ABBA had already scored worldwide success with prior singles such as "Waterloo", "Mamma Mia", "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" and "S.O.S.". The release of "Dancing Queen" saw the group hit its peak. It topped charts all over the planet, including the elusive #1 position on the US chart. It was Euro-pop's crowning moment. On this, the group infused its unique musical style with the disco sound. Both Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lyngstad showcase their considerable skill and range. The musical structure seems simple, but on closer inspection, reveals an abundance of wizardry and hooks.
