Anouk represented the Netherlands in Sweden singing a song with a social message entitled "Birds". The powerful lyrics and sound of the entry stands out from the usual fare at Eurovision. The Dutch artist co-wrote the ballad. It qualified in Semi Final 1 and finished in 9th position out of 26 songs competing in the Grand Final that year. Anouk wrote the 2015 Dutch entry "Walk Along" which was performed by Trijintje Oosterhuis.
