JUSTIFIED: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

 [2002]
'Justified' sounds like the album the world was eager to hear from Michael Jackson. Its tracks would have fit comfortably alongside the trio produced by Quincy Jones for MJ: 'Off The Wall', 'Bad' and 'Thriller'.  In Justin Timberlake's hands, the album serves a funky retro feel with a fresh and modern approach. He enlists The Neptunes and Timbaland among others as producers and co-writers. The result is a debut album that accomplishes 2 goals. Firstly, this is no longer a boy band singer. The former *NSYNC member has grown up. Now, the spotlight- no longer shared- is focused solely on him. JT demonstrates that he is more than ready for it. Secondly, the album sees him navigate through a range of styles. Vocally, Timberlake tackles each song confidently and with an eye on variety. He was involved in the writing of every track. Overall, this is as effective a solo debut as there can be. Hindsight reveals that it served Timberlake well in the launching of his career as a soloist.
Highlight tracks: Cry Me A River; Like I Love You; Rock Your Body & Senorita.
