Two simultaneous countdowns related to the Fab Four. The group’s 100 most essential songs as well as the 100 best recordings from the members’ solo careers. Priority was given to original compositions, but some cover versions demanded inclusion. Songs are ranked in terms of sales, musical impact, influence and sustained quality.

IT WON'T BE LONG

John contributed "It Won't Be Long" for 1963's 'With The Beatles' album. He is heard on lead vocals.
DING DONG, DING DONG

George Harrison

The song was designed for seeing out a year and welcoming the start of a new one (in this case 1974-5). It was featured on George's 'Dark Horse' album. It features contributions from Ringo Starr, Ron Wood, Klaus Voorman and others.

GOOD DAY SUNSHINE
Paul was inspired by the weather and The Lovin' Spoonful while writing "Good Day Sunshine" for The Beatles' 1966 album release 'Revolver'.

1979's 'Back To the Egg' album included the pop/rock track "Arrow Through Me".

"Till There Was You" was a song from the musical "The Nusic Man". The Beatles' cover version appeared on 'With The Beatles'.

"Soft Touch" features a beautiful guitar riff throughout.The song was included on George's self-titled 1979 album.

I'LL CRY INSTEAD
John's songwriting skills were sharpening in 1964 as is obvious on his composition "I'll Cry Instead". The song contains some clever lyrics. It was featured on the band's 'A Hard Day's Night' album.
GOODNIGHT TONIGHT

Paul McCartney & Wings

As many other rock acts had done, McCartney decided to incorporate disco into his music. The result was "Goodnight Tonight". It retains the familiar Wings trademarks atop a dance beat. The single was like  a discofied "Silly Love Songs".  On both the US & UK charts, the disc reached #5.

PLEASE MR POSTMAN

The early Beatles records mined the Motown songbook. On "Please Mr Postman", The Beatles cover The Marvelettes' American #1 single with John on lead vocals.

After his label rejected some tracks for Harrison's 1981 album, he penned some new songs. "Teardrops" was one of them and Warner Bros. issued the 'Somewhere In England' LP.
