-The 'Earth Day' concert.

-Oasis are signed up by Creation Records.

-Mariah Carey marries Tommy Mottola.

-Prince adopts a symbol to replace his name. 

-Michael Jackson is investigated for child molestation allegations.

-Nirvana performs its MTV Unplugged concert.

 

    

      

 

1993 saw both Nirvana and Pearl Jam release follow-ups to hit albums, 'In Utero' and 'Vs" respectively. Soundscan was recording massive sales for records, particularly the hit soundtrack album 'The Bodyguard' and Janet Jackson's 'Janet'. Gangsta rap made significant strides this year; with hits scored by Dr Dre, Ice Cube, 2Pac and Snoop Doggy Dogg. Swedish pop spawned Ace Of Base. Iceland's Bjork charted in her own right. Mary J. Blige broke through with "Real Love".
