TRACY CHAPMAN:TRACY CHAPMAN
A black-and-white photograph of Chapman looking down
 [1988]
Tracy Chapman's self titled debut album was hailed as the revival of folk rock as well as the singer / songwriter tradition. The American singer penned all of the LP's tracks. Astutely remaining minimal throughout, each song serves as a snapshot of the US at the time. Her vocal skills draw in the listener. There are no gimmicks or excesses, just simple yet intimate lyrics. For the latter, give the tracks "For My Lover", "fast Car" or "Behind The Wall" a listen. Highlight tracks: Baby Can I Hold You; Fast Car & Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution'.
