In 1962, rock 'n roll threw up new music acts, each with its own take on the genre. Island Records emerges with its first releases. The Motown label starts achieving hit singles. As a satellite named Telstar made its first transatlantic TV transmission, The Tornadoes scored an instrumental #1 named in its honour. The Four Seasons storm the charts with "Sherry". Rock enjoyed 1 of its earliest novelty hits: "Monster Mash" (which is swiftly banned by the BBC!). Folk made stars out of the trio Peter, Paul & Mary.
