CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS
THE TOP 100
#48 AS
STEVIE WONDER
(1976)
Writer: Stevie Wonder
"As" is the track with the shortest title on Stevie Wonder's masterpiece 'Songs in the Key of Life'. Running for 7 minutes, it is also 1 of the longest tracks on the classic 1976 album. It's a song about an enduring love. Wonder wrote, produced and arranged the funky song. Along with performing the lead vocal, his is 1 of the voices heard on background vocals.
In the following year, "As" was issued as the 5th and final single from that LP. The love song peaked at #36 on both the Pop and R&B charts in the USA. "As"  also made the Adult Contemporary chart, where it reached #24. Along with Wonder's version, Sister Sledge also released a remake in 1977 on their 'Together' album. A superior cover version emerged in 1999 when George Michael and Mary J. Blige released their interpretation as a duet. This smooth rendition reached #4 in Britain.
This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the remaining Top 100 is added each weekday, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
