CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS
THE TOP 100
#88 'DISCO' LA PASSIONE
Chris Rea & Shirley Bassey
(1996)
Writer: Chris Rea

English performer Chris Rea collaborated with Dame Shirley Bassey in 1996 for "'Disco' La Passione", a dance version of the theme from a film released that year. The former wrote and produced the song. Bassey starred in the motion picture as herself. The single charted well in Europe.
Rea had been working since the early 70s, in search of a commercial breakthrough. This finally eventuated in 1978 with the hit "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" . The single fared better in America, where it peaked at #12. "Diamonds" charted the following year. Subsequent releases included the major hits "Let's Dance" in 1987 and "The Road To Hell" 2 years later. The latter was the title track from his 1st British #1 album. Its success was repeated with 'Auberge' in 1991. Rea continues recording, his most recent release being 'Santo Spirito Blues' in 2011.
Bassey, of course, has remained 1 of pop music's most distinctive vocalists. Following her resurgence with "'Disco' La Passione" and "History Repeating", the performer has continued issuing intriguing records. In 2000, a remix album revisited many of Bassey's classic songs. She was sampled (although uncredited) for Kanye West's "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" 5 years later. In 2007, she charted in the UK with "The Living Tree" and a cover of Pink's "Get The Party Started". She unleashed a new album in late 2014 entitled 'Hello Like Before'.
This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the remaining Top 100 is added each weekday, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
