CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#141 BOOGIE WONDERLAND Earth, Wind & Fire with The Emotions
The Emotions formed in Chicago in 1968. The girl group consisted of lead vocalist Sheila Hutchinson and siblings Wanda and Jeanette. The sisters started in gospel before signing with the renowned Stax label. This brought the trio under the influence of key songwriters/ producers Isaac Hayes and David Porter. The group remained with the label until it closed its doors in the mid- Seventies. The Emotions then began an association with Maurice White. He had previously worked with the group and been impressed with their vocal talent. White was enjoying success as the pivotal member of the funk group Earth, Wind and Fire. He produced and co-wrote -with band member Al McKay- The Emotions' 1977 US #1 hit "Best of my Love". The 2 groups came together 2 years later for the disco floor filler "Boogie Wonderland".
Allee Willis and Jon Lind wrote the 1979 hit. White and McKay produced the collaboration. The 2 groups recorded the track in 1978 for the Earth, Wind & Fire album 'I Am'. It was the 1st single lifted off the successful LP. ".... Wonderland" peaked at #4 in the UK and 6 Pop/ 2 R&B in the USA. The single also peaked in the Top 10 in Australia, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
The Emotions were unable to sustain their chart success and broke up as a recording trio in 1986, after releasing an album of new material on Motown. In 1996, the sisters released a live album. The 2 groups re-united in 1990 on the Earth, Wind & Fire album 'Heritage'.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
