ABBATHE 40 MOST IMPORTANT SONGS

1 DANCING QUEEN

Writers: Benny Andersson / Bjorn Ulvaeus / Stig Anderson

If there is one song for which ABBA will always be remembered, it is definitely "Dancing Queen".  Many music commentators consider it one of the best pop songs ever recorded. Released in 1976, the hit still fills dancefloors at parties to this day as soon as Benny's piano riff is recognized.
It took months to complete the song before it was ready for release. The disco hit "Rock Your Baby" by George McCrae inspired the song's dance beat. The song began life entitled "Boogaloo". While Benny and Bjorn were constructing the classic song, its backing track's beauty made Frida cry.
Agnetha & Frida share lead vocals and they impress with the wide range "Dancing Queen" demanded. Once issued, even the USA succumbed to its immense appeal, making it the group's sole #1 there. It reached the top in numerous other territories including: Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa and Britain. "Dancing Queen" remains ABBA's most successful and instantly recognizable song.
