ABBATHE 40 MOST IMPORTANT SONGS

26 THE NAME OF THE GAME

Writers: Benny Andersson / Bjorn Ulvaeus / Stig Anderson

Drawing inspiration from Stevie Wonder's "I Wish", "The Name of the Game" remains one of the most interesting ABBA recordings. Agnetha and Frida's lead vocals are worked into the song in a novel way. The song marks a new watershed moment in Benny and Bjorn's songcraft. This was the first single lifted off 'ABBA- The Album' in 1977. Manager Stig Anderson suggested changing its working title "A Bit Of Myself" to the better "The Name of the Game".
