ABBATHE 40 MOST IMPORTANT SONGS

20 SLIPPING THROUGH MY FINGERS

Writers: Benny Andersson / Bjorn Ulvaeus

By the time ABBA was recording 'The Visitors' album, Bjorn's lyrics had developed to such an extent that he created songs dealing with serious issues. "Slipping Through My Fingers" is one of his best. Inspired by his daughter Linda's growing up, the song will resonate with many parents. ABBA attracted much derision for some of their silly songs, but this ballad perfectly sung by Agnetha, silences those critics. This is a long way from songs such as "Dum Dum Diddle"! The track also shows that ABBA possessed plenty of potential and would be more relevant had the group not split up.
