CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1500 CHOICE TRACKS

#264 THINKING OF YOU Sister Sledge
The family act Sister Sledge recorded the love song "Thinking Of You" in the studio with its writers Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. The 2 male members of the fink/disco group Chic also produced the siblings. They were aiming at a spontaneous feel, so they didn't allow lead vocalist Kathy Sledge a preview of the track prior to the recording session. As Sledge revealed to me during an interview: "we weren't allowed to hear those songs until it was time to record them... I learned "Thinking Of You" line by line". As the song came together, Sledge would improvise. "There is a magic", she went on to explain. "The ad libs... were pretty much in 1 take".
The single was released in 1979. The 4 sisters' association with Edwards and Rodgers ended in 1980. Sister Sledge collaborated with producer Narada Michael Walden, but their chart fortunes waned soon after. In 1985, the group returned to the charts with "Frankie", a #1 single in Britain. The act continues simultaneously with Kathy Sledge's solo career.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new instalments are added each day (every 12 hours) with 1 of the remaining 300 songs as well as moving down from #1201 to 1500, with 5 of those songs added daily.
