#1296 SUSPICIOUS MINDS Elvis Presley
A definitive song from the older Elvis period. Its writer Mark James recorded the original version in 1968. A year later, Elvis Presley recorded the definitive take on the song.

#1298 SOLDIERS Abba
ABBA's final album featured the track "Soldiers", written  and produced by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. By 1982, and the group's 'The Visitors' album, their songcraft had evolved with the Swedish pop group churning out some of its best material. Agnetha Faltskog delivers an evocative lead vocal.

#1299 OVERJOYED Stevie Wonder
Stevie Wonder's ballad "Overjoyed" was written, produced and arranged by the artist for his 1985 album 'In Square Circle'.

#1300 CAT'S IN THE CRADLE Harry Chapin
Inspired by his wife Sandy Chapin's idea , singer/songwriter Harry Chapin created a powerful and heart-wrenching song about a father and son who never can find time to be together. The story song reached #1 in the USA in late 1974. He died in a tragic accident in 1981.

The list is a ranking made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. This expanded section now includes songs from the last few years. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
5 new songs are added every day from #1201-1500
