CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1500 CHOICE TRACKS

#294 I'M EVERY WOMAN Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan established herself as a solo artist - after being the lead singer of the funk group Rufus - with her solo debut hit "I'm Every Woman". The song was written by married couple Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson. Arif Mardin produced the recording which wound up on her 1st solo album entitled 'Chaka', in 1978.
The single reached #1 on the US R&B Chart and 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. In Britain, the disc peaked at #11. At the time, Khan was still a member of Rufus. The success of "I'm Every Woman" launched her solo career.
Cissy Houston performed background vocals for 2 other tracks on the 'Chaka' LP and, in 1992, her daughter Whitney covered "I'm Every Woman" for 'The Bodyguard' movie soundtrack. Khan made a guest appearance in the music video for the new version. Houston's remake fared even better than the original.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new instalments are added each day (every 12 hours) with 1 of the remaining 300 songs as well as moving down from #1201 to 1500, with 5 of those songs added daily.
