CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#365 TEMPTED (UK) Squeeze
After breaking through with "Cool for Cats" in 1979, Squeeze experienced lineup changes and mixed responses to their subsequent releases. The exception was 1980's 'Argybargy' LP. Their next album was meant to be produced by Dave Edmunds, but the group decided to work instead with Elvis Costello and Roger Bechirian. 'East Side Story' was issued in 1981.
"Tempted" was featured on that LP. Written by group members Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, the song featured recent recruit Paul Carrack on lead vocals. He had formerly been in the group Ace. The song was released as a single which reached #49 in the US and 41 in Britain. Carrack quit the group before the end of that year.
In 1982, the group split. Re-uniting 3 years later, the band released new material, including 'Babylon And On' in 1987. Carrack re-joined the group in 1993. 1999 saw Squeeze disband again, reforming in 2007. The group is still active, performing and recording music to this day.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
