#423 NO MATTER WHAT Boyzone
Boyzone scored a hit in 1998 with their version of a song from a musical. The Irish boy band formed in 1993. The following year saw the group reach the Irish Top 40 with 1st hit "Working My Way Back To You". Their next 4 releases all topped that chart: "Love me for a Reason", "Key to my Life" , "So Good" and "Father and Son". In 1986, they returned to the top with "Words". "All That I Need" followed in 1998.
"No Matter What" was penned by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman. It was a song from the 1996 musical "Whistle Down the Wind". Boyzone's version was produced by its 2 composers and Nigel Wright. The track was featured on the group's 'Where We Belong' album.
The single became the boy band's 7th chart topper in Ireland. It also topped the charts in New Zealand, the Netherlands and the UK. In Australia, the disc peaked at #5. Its parent album also topped many charts around the world.
In 2000, internal tension resulted in the group disbanding. Ronan Keating had already launched a solo career. Stephen Gately followed suit soon after. It would be 8 years before Boyzone reunited. Before an album of all-new material was completed, Gately passed away in 2009 from a pulmonary edema. The album 'Brother' was dedicated to him. In 2013, the remaining members performed in England and Ireland.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
