CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

Mid-week bonus - 1 new song will be added every 2 hours throughout today
#511 VINCENT Don McLean
Don McLean read a book about painter Vincent Van Gogh and was inspired to write "Vincent" as a tribute to the renowned artist. Ed Freeman produced the recording which wound up on McLean's 'American Pie' album. After the title track had enjoyed great success around the world, "Vincent" was chosen as the follow-up single. Its 1st words refer to 1 of the Dutch painter's best-known works: "The Starry Night".
Released in 1972, the single peaked at #13 in McLean's homeland, the US. It fared better in Britain where it reached #1. It was also a Top 10 hit in Australia and Canada. This tribute song is played every day at Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
