#457 BAD HABITS Billy Field
Billy Field helped young Australian music fans discover the delights of swing and jazz with his debut album 'Bad Habits'. He penned its title track with Tom Price. The 2 co-produced the hit single which was recorded at Paradise Studios in Woolloomoloo in Sydney, Australia.
The Australian performer was born in 1953 in country New South Wales. Field learned the violin and piano at an early age. His family then moved to Sydney in the 1960s. He joined a band named King Fox by age 15. The group was making inroads and even charted locally, but the friends' poor school results led to their parents insisting the group break up. Thus, their debut album was never issued. After studying Economics at university, Field was required to manage his family's grazing interests.
It was 5 years before Field could return to his passion: music. In 1979, he set up Paradise Studios. The facilities were used by some of the country's biggest acts, including Air Supply, INXS, Cold Chisel, The Models, Paul Kelly and Icehouse.
Field made use of the studio and recorded an album of the songs he had created with Price. WEA Records released his debut solo LP. "Bad Habits" was issued in 1981 and peaked at #4 on the Australian chart. Its follow-up, the ballad "You Weren't In Love With Me", reached #1. In 1982, "True Love" became his 3rd, but last chart entry, despite continuing to record throughout the 1980s.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
