CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#502 FAME Irene Cara
Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore co-wrote Irene Cara's breakthrough global hit "Fame". Along with performing its title song, the singer starred in the film as Coco Hernandez. The project made her a star. Gore produced the track. It won the Oscar for Best Song, beating Dolly Parton's "9 to 5", Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" and another Cara song: "Out Here On My Own".
Released as a single in 1980, "Fame" climbed to the chart summit in Britain, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Ireland. The disc also peaked at #3 in Australia and Sweden, 2 in France and 4 in the US.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
