CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#486 NOWHERE TO RUN Martha & The Vandellas
Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland provided the Motown label with some of its best songs. They furnished not only Martha & The Vandellas with some classics, but also The Supremes and The Four Tops. The former enjoyed success with songs written by the trio that included "Heat Wave", "I'm Ready For Love", "Quicksand", "Jimmy Mack" and the sprightly "Nowhere To Run".
Martha Reeves and The Vandellas was formed in 1960s originally using names such as The Del-Phis, then The Vels. By 1962 they were a trio and recording for Motown as Martha & The Vandellas. In 1964, they reached #2 with their dynamic "Dancing in the Street". Follow-up "Wild One" only climbed to #34.
"Nowhere To Run" was issued next, in 1965. It coincided with a line-up change following the departure of Annette Beard. New member Betty Kelly had previously been a member of another Motown girl group, The Velvelettes. Dozier and Brian Holland produced the recording. In the UK the single only made #26, but peaked at #8 in America.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
