CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

Mid-week bonus: #559-557
#559 THE WAY Fastball
Texan alternative band Fastball formed in 1994. The trio's name was the title of their favourite porn movie. The group is best remembered for their worldwide hit single "The Way". Bass playing vocalist Tony Scalzo wrote the song and it was produced by the 3 members with Julian Raymond. This was the 1st single lifted off their 1998 'All The Pain Money Can Buy' album. It tells the story of parents leaving their children at home and driving off, never to return. The single peaked at #4 in the US and reached #1 in Canada. Despite never matching their quirky late 90s hit, the band has continued recording; their most recent album being 'Little White Lies' in 2009.

#558 ELAINE Abba
"Elaine" was 1 of the first songs composed for what would become ABBA's 'Super Trouper' album. It was later dropped, but wound up as the B-side for the Swedish group's hit single "The Winner Takes It All" in 1980.  Group members Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson wrote and produced the song. The track finally was added to the album as originally intended when the CD was issued in 1997.

#557 DOWN IN THE DEPTHS Lisa Stansfield
In 1990, a group of performers teamed up for a Cole Porter tribute album that aimed at raising money and awareness in the wake of HIV and A.I.D.S. The musical acts involved included Neneh Cherry, Sinead O'Connor, The Fine Young Cannibals, Debbie Harry, U2, Annie Lennox, KD Lang, Aztec Camera, Erasure and Jimmy Sommerville. They all recorded a Porter standard. Lisa Stansfield's contribution was the legendary songwriter's "Down in the Depths". Her regular team of Andy Morris and Ian Devaney co-produced the track with her. The horns complement her precise rendition.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday. Today, 3 songs will be added every 6 hours.
