CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#592 CALLING YOU Andrew Pendlebury featuring Kate Ceberano
In 1987, a West German film entitled 'Bagdad Cafe'' was released. It was set in California and the film features an unforgettable opening song: "Calling You" performed by Jevetta Steele. The version that makes this Top 1200 is a remake by Andrew Pendlebury with vocals from Kate Ceberano. The former had recorded it for his 'Don't Hold Back That Feeling' album. Pendlebury had been a member of  the Australian rock group The Sports. He produced the track with Paul Kosky. The song was penned by Bob Telson and this Australian remake features a new arrangement from Pendlebury and Ceberano. Their cover version was issued as a single in 1992.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
To mark the occasion of reaching the halfway mark for this special countdown, a new song will be added on the hour all day today (in place of this week's Mid Week Bonus).
