CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#589 THE KILLING OF GEORGIE (Parts 1 & 2) Rod Stewart
"The Killing of Georgie" is a song that deals with the violent murder of a gay man. Rod Stewart was inspired to write the song following the death of 1 of his homosexual friends. The song, at over 6 minutes, is lengthy but tells a story of the young man being ostracized by his parents and finding his place within Manhattan's gay community before his untimely death.
The track was included on his 'A Night on the Town' album. It was released as a single in 1976. It reached the Top 3 in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. The song also charted in the US and Australia.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
To mark the occasion of reaching the halfway mark for this special countdown, a new song will be added on the hour all day today (in place of this week's Mid Week Bonus).
