CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#672 TAKE THE L The Motels
The Motels' "Take The L" offers a revealing irony: if you remove the first letter from the word 'lover', you are left with 'over'. That is the foundation for this 1982 hit from the group's 3rd album release, 'All Four One'. The track was written by group members Martha Davis and Marty Jourard with songwriter John Carter. The former sang lead vocals. Val Garay was the producer, much in demand after his success producing "Bette Davis Eyes" for Kim Carnes. As a single, it struggled up the charts; its best achievement being a peak position of #21 in Australia.
