TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#649 LOVE IN MOTION Icehouse
Icehouse was originally known as the Flowers. The Australian group changed its name after their first hit singles (to avoid confusion with another band), taking on the title of its 1st album. "Love in Motion" was released in 1981 and peaked at #10 in Australia. The group essentially revolved around pivotal lead singer Iva Davies. He penned "Love in Motion" and co-produced the recording with Steve Nye. It was originally a single-only issue, but was later tacked on to international pressings of the 1982 album 'Private Man'. Icehouse enjoyed a string of hit songs beginning in 1980 with "Can't Help Myself". Subsequent major hits included 'Great Southern Land", "Hey Little Girl", "Crazy" and the Australian #1 "Electric Blue", a Top 10 hit in America in 1987.
In 1992, Icehouse re-recorded "Love in Motion" with Christina Amphlett (of the fellow Aussie rock group The Divinyls). This new version returned the song to the domestic Top 100. The group's most recent chart appearance was in 2004 with the track "Heroes". A compilation of Icehouse hits reached #5 in 2011.
