TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#767 DEAD EYES OPENED Severed Heads
One of the most creative electronica recordings, "Dead Eyes Opened" came from Sydney act Severed Heads. Forming in 1979, the act began making inroads under the direction of member Tom Ellard. It was he who wrote the song which was first recorded for inclusion on their 1983 album 'Since the Accident'. Years later, the track was remixed by Robert Racic. This 1994 new version sampled crime writer Edgar Lustgarten reading on his radio show from "Death on the Crumbles". The single cracked the Top 40. Its follow up was "Heart of the Party". Ellard declared the group's termination in 2008. It is still an engaging recording, with its unique marriage of electronica and industrial / alternative dance with Lustgarten's narration.
